Register For Our Upcoming Webinar

We invite you to join us for this casual catch-up on the industry and dive into the business details and strategy that has helped Donuts become a leader in the domain industry.

We’ll learn from the Donuts team on how they are driving demand for their TLD extensions (something we all benefit from!), and how their 2020 acquisition of Afilias registry is changing the way they do business.

Benefit From The Experience Of A Leading TLD Regisry

Donuts’ Registry owns the world's largest portfolio of top-level domains, branded TrueName Domains, and operates hundreds of others for registry partners on its innovative registry services platform. Together, Donuts' TLDs have nearly 25 million domains under management. Donuts ranked on Inc.'s 5000 list as one of the fastest-growing U.S private companies in 2021.

We look forward to hosting you soon!

Notice of OTE Changes and LIVE system Maintenance:
March 21, 2022

In our ongoing commitment to provide you with optimal system stability, we are building on CentralNic’s security and technology. To do this, we will be making server and hardware changes, including adding a new operational and data system to our OTE.

To accommodate the changes listed above, we have scheduled an OTE maintenance on March 21, 2022. The OTE system will be offline for eight hours (8h, 8:00- 16:00 UTC), while the LIVE system outage will run for four hours (4h, 8:00-12:00 UTC). We will continue to update you with further details as needed.

Please note the following changes that are taking place with this initiative;

  • We have tidied up our OTE, making it stronger and more streamlined for your testing
  • We are focusing on 30 registry connections, a reduction from previous numbers though well concentrated to make sure key TLDs are covered.
  • In addition, on April 4th at 14:00 UTC we will be rolling out an updated version of our Control Panel based on a new framework. We recommend finishing your work 20 minutes in advance of this time, as you may get disconnected when it refreshes. While you will not see any noteworthy changes, we will provide a pop up reminder in your Control Panel 24hrs out from the rollout time.

If you find there are TLDs missing that you would like to request for future testing, please reach out to your Sales representative or contact us at [email protected] to let us know. We are interested to hear your feedback and requests.

We appreciate your patience during this time and we have additional team members on standby to support you during this transition. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or queries at [email protected]. We encourage you to share any errors or challenges you experience during this change, this will help us serve you better in the OTE environment and enable us to continuously improve the LIVE environment.

In looking forward, you can continue to expect enhancements in our services. Throughout the year we will keep you informed on further security and technology updates we are completing.

Critical Defect On WHMCS:
Domain Life Cycle Data Wrongly Imported

For our WHMCS reseller customers, please be aware that WHMCS currently does not import the Auto-Renew Grace Period (ARGP) correctly over Registrar TLD Sync/Pricing Import. As our self-maintained HEXONET Registrar Module ("ispapi") does not support ARGP, the import request sent to WHMCS is given the value zero (0) days for it. WHMCS currently does not recognize such a value, thus registers the ARGP with the TLD’s default value instead. All TLDs with ARGP default value > 0 are affected. This is a critical issue for all customers as WHMCS may not provide a renewal request on time which could result in customer domains going offline. This bug has been acknowledged by WHMCS and is being tracked on case ID #CORE-17488.

The workaround for this issue is to manually set the Grace Period to "0" in the Domain Pricing Overview for domains where Autoreg is set to "ispapi". This can also be achieved by executing the following SQL statement:
UPDATE tbldomainpricing SET grace_period = 0 WHERE autoreg = 'ispapi';

Limitations To .IN Registrations
Effective this month, NIXI, the .IN Registry has implemented new limits to the amount of .IN domain names a single registrant can register.

The policy is effective immediately under .IN, which includes all .IN subdomains and third levels, and prohibits individual registrants (private persons and organizations) from registering more than two domain names.

This applies across all registrars, e.g. any one registrant having registered more than two domains may have their domain(s) deleted by us or by the registry regardless of which registrar is used for prior registrations. This policy is not applied retroactively, so all registrations prior to February 1, 2022 are unaffected.

Registrants can apply for written approval of additional registrations through their registrar and we will provide further information on that process in the near future. As this process will be highly manual, such applications will carry an additional fee.

DNS Belgium Makes Changes To Registrant Verifications - .BE - March 1, 2022
From March 1st, 2022, Belgian private registrants will be able to verify their details online directly with the registry. It will no longer be necessary for them to send them identification documents via e-mail. Instead, the verification is to be done automatically with Itsme or eID. Regardless, of whether the registrant is a Belgian National or a private individual, the registry will provide a link via email to a web page where that identification is done automatically with Itsme or eID.

As DNS Belgium already sought to validate incomplete and potentially wrong data, this new regulation is an enhancement to the existing system for a small number of Belgian residents to use local eID tools.

The main steps for verification are as follows:

  1. In the email, they will ask the registrant to prove their identity.
  2. The registrant is to provide them with a document to prove their identity, use Itsme or any future verification entities.
  3. Once they have received and approved the proof of identity, they will activate the domain name.

If the registry discovers that the holder data are incomplete or incorrect, they will temporarily point new registrations to the name servers of DNS Belgium. Therefore domains will be registered but not active. The URL of the domain name will refer to a landing page with the same information as the e-mail they send to the registrant.

Testing by the registry is already underway and they aim to go live on
the 1st of March, 2022.

In the future, the intention is to expand this registrant verification with multiple identification systems such as IDIN (for the Netherlands). They aim to support all countries with the goal of ultimately verifying the identity of all registrants, to ensure the .be zone is as correct and secure as possible.
Changes To The .SBS Premium List - April 25, 2022
The registry will slightly change their .SBS premium name program on April 25, 2022. New tiers and pricing levels will be introduced, but they will keep the current HIGH-HIGH renewal model (i.e. domains registered at premium price will also be renewed at their premium price). Premium .SBS changes will be reflected via the EPP system as of this date.
