The popular new gTLD .TOP, operated by Jiangsu Bangning Science & Technology in China, has recently surpassed 1 million domain registrations and now ranks as the second most successful new gTLD just behind .XYZ (2.1 million registrations). Registrars and customers in China have taken to the .TOP domain name and even many start-ups and prominent businesses in China are actively using this new gTLD. Recently, China's largest e-commerce company Alibaba, together with the second biggest Chinese TV station, Hunan TV, (second to only CCTV) combined forces to launch a .TOP based website for a new B2C business called Hitao.top (嗨淘全球), which targets female customers aged between 18 to 35 with imported cosmetics and baby products.

.TOP is one of the most generic domain names to be released.  And since the word "TOP" is globally recognized and has the same spelling and meaning in at least 22 other languages, registering and using a .TOP domain will have international appeal and make it easy for people to understand the best in class nature of the content. 

To promote the new gTLD, the registry operated by Jiangsu Bangning Science & Technology, even hosted over one hundred Internet service providers and domain investors for a conference on webhosting, data centers and opportunities with new gTLDs.  Some of the best .TOP websites were showcased as well as how .TOP is truly a global new gTLD with the recent introduction of IDN (Interationalized Domain Name) registrations in Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.
